Frequently Asked Questions
What is the USDT to naira rate?
There is no single USDT/NGN price that applies to every marketplace. NairaRate compares the latest usable prices returned by its configured sources so a visitor can see how different markets are priced at roughly the same time.
Why can two exchanges show different prices?
Each marketplace has its own buyers, sellers, liquidity, payment methods and limits. P2P merchants also choose their own prices. Two markets can therefore display different rates at the same moment without either quote necessarily being an error.
Is the highest sell price automatically the best deal?
No. A headline rate may apply only to a small order or a particular payment method. Before acting, compare the rate with the minimum and maximum order, the payment method, the merchant information and the final confirmation shown by the exchange.
What is the difference between buy and sell?
On this site, buy means you pay naira and receive USDT. Sell means you provide USDT and receive naira. The two figures are shown separately because they represent opposite directions of a transaction.
Why is a P2P rate different from an official reference rate?
An official or reference rate is a benchmark. A P2P rate is formed by participants in a particular marketplace and can reflect demand, supply, payment preferences, liquidity and transaction limits. The two figures answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Is P2P trading safe?
P2P transactions carry counterparty and payment risk. Use the exchange's built-in escrow and dispute process, keep communication on the platform, check the merchant details and verify that funds have actually arrived in your own account before releasing USDT. Never rely on a screenshot as proof of payment.
How often do the displayed rates update?
The rate service refreshes when the configured sources respond, and the interface shows a freshness indicator. A displayed price can still change immediately afterward, so the exchange's own confirmation screen is the final reference for an actual transaction.
Does NairaRate execute trades or hold customer funds?
No. NairaRate is a comparison and calculation service. It does not create exchange accounts, receive deposits, custody cryptocurrency, execute orders or guarantee a transaction.
Does NairaRate charge a trading fee?
NairaRate does not execute the trade and therefore does not charge an exchange transaction fee. The external marketplace or exchange you choose can have its own fees, spreads, limits or payment costs.
Can I use the calculator as a final quote?
No. The calculator is an estimate based on the rate currently displayed. Fees, order limits and market movement can change the final amount, so use the exchange's final confirmation screen for the transaction value.
